Peace Education Program in Progress

A conviction that all teacher preparation programs need to include peace education and global sustainability topics in their curriculum, members of A Curriculum of Hope for a Peaceful World Committee submitted and received a grant from the Educational Foundation of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. This grant focuses on conversations with four selected universities in the State of Connecticut with Teacher Education Programs.

We have dialogued by asking questions and offering our expertise in order to stimulate the process of moving Peace Education into the curriculum.

A Forum including members of liberal arts faculty and teacher education faculty occurs in mid September.

PEACE EDUCATION (as defined by the Curriculum of Hope):
Peace Education includes a basic understanding of human rights and our responsibility to maintain, repair and sustain out planet Earth. As global citizens we all need to be able to think critically, to resolve conflicts non-violently and to cooperate and compromise to reach agreements that benefit all. We need to respect and care about each others’ plight, work for a healthy environment, a strong world economy and an equitable society which celebrates every culture and provides social justice for everyone.
